Re: ferral hog hunting
I have heard rumors of feral hogs in Arizona since the mid 80's.
If we really had them I would think that we would be overrun with them by now.

I'd imagine Most of Az doesn't have grass lands to support a ferral hog population.

IF it were open season on them like coyote, I'd love to blast them with a variety of calibers..

Re: ferral hog hunting
Grasslands are not a requirement for feral hogs although they may be one environment the move thru.
In the south they seem to be more at home in forested environments.
Infact the plains dont seem to have the hog problems the rest of texas has minus farming areas.

Not much of a hog issue in Arizona. More likely to find a jackalope

I have heard stories of wild hogs north of Kingman and south of Happy Jack, but not lately. Maybe they are related to the Mogollon Monster.

Re: ferral hog hunting
There are some feral hogs along the Colorado River. 40 years ago my uncle shot one near Bullhead City.
The feds were shooting them from choppers over wildlife refuges a few years ago.
Only other hog hunts I've heard of in AZ were canned hunts near Cordes and St John's along the rivers.

In 2000 I worked for a electrical contractor, I was given a project in Lake Havasu Az. I became a regular at the electrical supply house and one of the sales guys swore and showed me pictures of himself with 4 different hogs taken out of the Lake Havasu area. He actually hand drew a map. At the end of the project, 3 of us went out and located the area, the spot we found smelled like a hog farm in the middle of nowhere. I personally never saw one. But found bedding areas, scat and tracks. Never went back.
My 2 cents

I'll be Pming you for that spot. The reuge I was referring too is the Lk Havasu. If the spot with hogs is out side of the refuge, I'd love some pork.
I have family there, sounds like a good time.

Re: ferral hog hunting
Me and a buddy a number of years back went scouting outside of Kingman after a report of feral hog. Found a couple spots in 3 days of wandering with tracks and some scat but never laid eyes on one.
Buddy got change of station orders before we could go out again.
