Re: Drilling Out a Snapped Allen Key
Good job... lucky you... if it was that loose I wonder if you coulda turned it upside down and whacked it with a plastic dead-blow hammer I turned it over and whacked it on my hand and that did not get it done. Drilling the broken tool slotted into the list of options a bit above whacking it with a...

My M1A "Loaded" with all the NM goodies except bedding was my first "bucket list gun." Still one of my favorites.

Well - I bought a set of vice jaw pads that had strong magnets in them... and a set of tiny carbide burrs... and before mounting the gun in the vice to get after this I tried the magnet on the screw head... and... out it popped...

Re: Where to buy a scope?
If all else fails “Optic Planet” Have you had many good experiences with them? I put an order in with them a few weeks back. I know everyone is getting hit hard with orders right now, but they sat on my order for almost three weeks without shipping it. I just canceled it and ordered from somewhere ...

Re: MIG or TIG welder for HK G3 Build?
I mean no offense - but if it were me - and I did not have a LOT of experience with a given welding process - I'd not consider doing it myself. I both MIG and TIG (and gas and stick weld) - and I'd not go near my firearms with a welder. :-) If you are highly skilled both processes - my best bet is t...

Re: Drilling Out a Snapped Allen Key
Thanks gents... I've ordered some tiny burrs and I'm going to try to cut the middle out of the tool and see if I can pull it out. If that does not work I'll slot the screw and replace it... if that does not work ... well ... I might be mad enough to go the oxy-acetylene route...

Here are a couple of pictures... It is pretty flush...dread_scott wrote: ↑September 11th, 2020, 10:39 am Is it magnetic? Put a strongish magnet on it and see if it pulls out? Maybe also heat it up a bit?
Do you have a pic of the actual broken piece?

Drilling Out a Snapped Allen Key
OK - looking for tips / tricks / advice here... "Someone" snapped the tip of an allen wrench off in the front screw of their Buckmark's site mounting plate (see image below)... Must have been a cheap Chinese tool because there was really very little force applied and it had only deflected ...

Re: Looking for 6.5 CM AR-10 Build Advice
I'll take small groups with no tuning (except ammo), thank you very much. I know 10-12 people that have built 6.5 gas guns. Half of them were tuning nightmares...gas blocks, gas ports, buffer weights, buffer springs, etc....too many variables. The half that ran 100% were out of the box, factory gun...

Re: Looking for 6.5 CM AR-10 Build Advice
2. A gas gun will not be as accurate as a bolt gun. The 6.5 AR-10 platform can be tricky to tune correctly. But you already know that. I'm aware that on average, bolt guns are going to be more accurate than semi auto guns. I also know that semi-auto accuracy has come a long way. I'm interested in a...

I got an error when trying to post - so I tried in a different forum... I came back later and found that they both had gone through. I've asked the moderator to delete one. Apologies if the double post bugs you.
