Re: phx shows - crossroads any good
Used to be, I'd go to the show, and buy powder and primers. I forget the dealer's name, MIAWOL ??? Price was just good enough that if you bought 5000 primers and a few pounds of powder it offset the outrageous fees to get in. If there is a primer/powder dealer there, I will likely go to the SAR show...

For 10mm, 180 grain cast, I use 10 grains of Blue Dot.

Re: Anyone load using Bayou's 135 grain 9mm bullet
My Hodgdon manual from 2020 lists data for many powders for this projectile, but not with Silhouette. If you have any of these powders, my manual can help. Longshot, 572, HS-6, CFE Pistol, Autocomp, Universal, 244, 231, HP-38, IMR Red, IMR Target, Titegroup, 700-X and Clays. Hodgdon's online manual...

Re: THe 45 ACP obsolete!?
In these United States, the most popular calibers tend to follow either what the military uses, or what the police use. So, ignoring the 22 LR: The top 3 rifle cartridges in the US are the .223, 308, and 30-06 The top pistol cartridge is 9mm, followed by the 45, and then everything else. But you can...

Re: When ammo comes in contact with batteries
We had a guy with a pocket full of 1/2 AA lithium batteries where one shorted out and detonated.
The fun part was he way flying an F-15 at the time.

Anyone load using Bayou's 135 grain 9mm bullet
So, my normal 9mm bullet is a 147 grain flat point, loaded with Silhouette. Hi-tek coated from either Missouri, SNS, or Bayou. While this bullet works great in my CZ and Argie hi-power, it doesn't feed well in the wife's 1911. Was thinking about trying Bayou's 135 grain round nose. That would make m...

Re: coated boolits
For the past several years I have been shooting Bayou Bullets. Hi-tek coating. Bayou and Missouri are usually within a few bucks, depending on quantity, so I generally shop both. I'm not happy that most vendors have switched from the classic H&G68 to a similar mold without the wax grove. The gro...

Re: School me on High Powers
High power: Trigger is ok, will never be as good as a 1911 Safety, generally sucks and is squishy and indistinct. Magazine interlock - but most of us remove that crap and throw away the parts. The new SA-35 is a nice contender though. 1 - has a more 1911ish safety, easier to manipulate 2 - they didn...

Re: Randalls sold
Shopped at Randals for years back when they had a really nice selection of reloading supplies. As the reloading stuff got less and less shelf space I liked it less and less.
They were a CZ dealer though, and I drove all the way across town to get my wife's CZ-85.

Re: PLANNING A BIG DOWNSIZING SALE
When I first moved to PHX in the early 90's we lived in a super sketchy apt on Cave Creek and Greenway. Nice little family run pizza place next door. Looks like it's an auto shop now.
Tagging for interest. Daughter could use a carry piece.

Re: Remington 1100 barrel question
Remington notoriously under-gassed the 3" guns.
The 3" guns have one gas port, the 2-3/4 inch guns have two gas ports
If it were mine, I would simply open up the gas port by 20 thousands of an inch or so.

Re: Ruger Hosting Drive Thru Job Fair in Prescott
Did Ruger’s purchase include the machinery involved in Marlin production, or just the intellectual property? If they get the machines, it’s going to take a while to either move all of it or sell it off. The CNC data is easy to move, you can literally email it or snail mail a thumb drive. Freedom Gr...

Re: Ruger Hosting Drive Thru Job Fair in Prescott
It must have to do with purchasing Marlin. Does this mean Marlin production will be in Prescott? Marlin production is intended to be in Prescott. However, Ruger would be dumb as turnips to simply start up production using the old Marlin drawings. I would expect several months of engineering effort ...

Re: Ported 10mm? Moving to Alaska!
Porting only degrades velocity a tiny bit. Maybe equivalent to 1/2 inch of barrel. The real concern to me is how freaking LOUD they are.
