Re: 6ARC or 6.5 Grendel, talk me into either

If long range is the goal and you must build a small frame. Then 6 arc all day over 6.5 grendel. Id also consider the new 22 arc. If you only plan on engaging very large targets, 1.5mil or bigger, then maybe consider grendel. But 6 arc barely provides enough power to make a 6mm bullet get it done. G...

Re: So you are a Rifleman?

Best way to test your general rifleman skills is to shoot the Black Rifle match at Rio Salado. Its the first Saturday of every month. 4-5 stages, 120sec par times and engagements from 0-500yds, sometimes all in the same stage!

Re: New guy with some range and hunting questions

If you like shooting matches, Cowtown has it all. Weekly steel, uspsa, PRS, accurized AR. They used to have multigun, not sure if they are bringing that back or not. They also host a number a of training classes from various instructors. The memebership for the range is expensive, but you dont need ...

Re: AR-15 Bolts. Which ones are good?

For the money, I think a nitrided bolt is the way to go. You can get more expensive coatings, but for a modestly priced bolt that is for a back up bolt or bolt that is cleaned and serviced regularly it is worth getting a nitrided bolt vs a phosphate. I get most of mine from Palmetto State Armory. Th...

Re: New AR Barrel

I was under the impression that when you get a barrel with the extension on it, it has been headspace. At least from reputable companies. They do, but it is to an in spec bolt. So whatever bolt you put in it, isnt guaranteed to be in spec. That said, if you buy new in the box name brand parts, the ...

Re: New AR Barrel

Ill throw in a vote for BA as well. Never pay full price though. They always have sales and discount codes often stack on top of them. Ill also put in a vote for Wilson Arms, not to be confused with Wilson Combat. Just Wilson arms. I have a 16in varmit profile barrel from them that absolutely hammer...

Re: USPSA at Cowtown?

Do you want to shoot at cowtown specifically? there are pistol matches all over the valley. Between IDPA and uspsa, you can shoot a match almost everyday of the week. practiscore is generally the best place to find matches, and most matches require registering there. Make sure to pay attention to wh...

Another data point for 2021. I applied for mine and my wifes in March. They took the full 90 days to approve mine. My wife's on the other hand came back in a week.

Re: Glock Magazine by Magpul Any Good ?

My 17rd magpul glockmags have feeding problems after being dropped in the dirt 1 or 2 times. My oem glock mags can handle many more drops. Not sure how many, but enough to get me through a 2 day match.

Re: AR-10 AR308 Platform Cartridge Options

6mm creedmoor should be on that list if your considering 243 win. Most of the new novel cartridges have shorter cases relative to the COAL that will make it easier to meet mag length if you choose a long high bc bullet. On the flat and fast point, if you are after a fast light bullet, keep in mind t...

Very cool. I need to get some of this training in. I'm signed up for The Tactical Games at Ben Avery in Oct. Right now my physical training and shooting training are completely separate.

Re: Looking for input, re: liquidation of an ammo fort

I agree with all the previous sentiment. Maybe a year ago, you could have sold it all at that price in one shot, but ammo is starting to come back on the shelves. You'll have to piece meal it out, but you need to hurry because the appetite for high price ammo is running out. You could probably mark ...
