Re: Best first rifle for children
I do agree on starting them on the concept of open sights. The rascal has a rear peep sight for what that is worth.

Re: Best first rifle for children
I think a small form factor .22 is the obvious choice. I actually really like the Savage Rascal. But the Crickets are another common option. My Rascal is still fun to shoot as an adult and I use it a small lightweight pack rifle.

Re: Pistola Brace Vacated
No full pictures of the firearm were required, just of the SN and manufacture markings. I have prior SBRs and just chocked it up as a way to easily get some more SBRs which I was already planing to do. This was an SBR registration as box 4b states (Type of firearm to be made "SHORT BARRELED RIF...

Re: QR codes
I had a trade show badge with a QR code that contained my contact information. Out of curiosity I took a sharpie and started filling in sections. I was shocked how good it was at still displaying the correct information even when highly modified.

Re: Fire restrictions
Unfortunately is it far easier to start a fire unintentionally while shooting than most realize. Just rocks hitting other rocks can make significant sparks. It's crazy what .223 will do at night when hitting rocks downrange. Couple that with very dry grass and it doesn't take a tracer or incendiary ...

Re: Fire restrictions
FYI Tonto went in to stage 1 fire restrictions a few days ago. Surprised they didn't do it earlier with the Horseshoe fire and Wildcat fire.

Re: Ultimate Survival Rifle Build
I will add the Keltec CP33, with a Farrowtech brace. Very small and accurate, 33 rounds inside the grip or and extended 50 round mag option. You have to be careful loading the quad stack magazines, but if you do that part correctly mine has been very reliable.

I don't think the Ruger integral will fit the Magpul backpacker stock. Thompspon machine Operative Takedown, Gemtech Mist-22TD, Tactical Solutions X-Ring TSS or Innovative Arms R1022 would be good options.

Re: Rio Salado Swap Meet 1 April 2023
Small but good. All Joe schmoes looking to unload stuff they don't need anymore. Unlike other shows which are mostly a collection of gun stuff resellers businesses. It felt much more like a gun swap meet.

Didn't know shorts would feed from the magazine of a P22? I have shot shorts through a suppressed rifle without issue.

Re: Seeking Advice: Emergency Insulin Refrigeration Solutions for Power Outages in High Heat
Idling a car for a long time would need similar precautions to running gas generator. It should be as far as reasonably possible from an enclosed living space. Consider Carbon Monixide alarms to be extra safe. As for how to keep the car from being swiped that is going to depend on your situation, If...

Re: Seeking Advice: Emergency Insulin Refrigeration Solutions for Power Outages in High Heat
Most people don't consider it, but your car is a excellent backup generator. It can produce 500-800W at idle and does not consume much fuel at idle. A smaller 4 cylinder car is on the order or 1/4-1/2 gallon consumption per hour. If you are good about never letting your tank run low you could have s...
