Re: 2024 elk draw..( cards getting hit )
Wife has 13 points and I have 8. Neither one of us could get a late bull tag. Bummer.

Re: 6.5 grendel
I am not a huge AR guy, I have a couple but I prefer a bolt rifle. I picked up a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel and have been pleasantly surprised with how accurate it is. I use it as my primary coyote rifle and I am running the 85gr Sierra HP under 29 grains of H4895 at 2743fps and nearly one hole accura...

Re: Riton 4x16x44
I put one on my AR and it has been a solid optic so far on coyote stands the last couple of years. It gets a little hard to look through at high power, it really makes you get in behind the optic, which I think is a good thing but its not as forgiving as other optics in that regard. That being said ...

Re: Gun Stock refinishing
Here is one I finished up not too long ago. This has got about 30 coats of pro custom gun oil and buffed with rottenstone to a satin finish. The first few coats I added some bone black to the finish to fill the pores of the grain and make it pop.

Re: Gun Stock refinishing
Brownells pro custom gun oil is the way to go. Very nice finish thats easy to apply. Buff to your desired finish with rottenstone or leave glossy.

Re: Problem I haven't had before
Those little screws on a Tikka action are just plastic filler screws. This happens all the time you can usually pry them out carefully with a dental pick. Easy peasy.

Re: Taurus USA plant
I purchased a Taurus 1911 a couple years ago and I couldn't be happier with it. That thing is honestly the most accurate handgun I have ever owned. The wife and I will head out in the hills and go for evening walks and shoot jack rabbits with our carry pistols for practice.

Re: New AR Barrel
Check out the AR Stoner barrels on Midway. I have built a couple ARs here recently using those barrels and they have all shot extremely well and at a good price. I just bought another one just to have around.

Small amount of Ballistol on a micro fiber towel does wonders. You can protect both the wood and and the metal with that stuff.

Re: 7 PRC rifle build or 7mm Rem Mag?
What can you do with the 7PRC that you cant do with the 7 Mag? A standard 9 or 9.25 twist found in most factory rifles will shoot up to the 180gr class bullets no problem. In fact given our elevation in this state I have worked up several loads with the 195s in standard twist barrels. The 180 class ...
