Re: The Hub buys out Merchant Firearms in Ahwatukee
The Hub in Tucson seems ok. Nice enough guys and good selection it prices seem high and they’re not my first choice. Hopefully they don’t ruin the old place for you Phoenix guys

Not surprising but they’ll never learn. What a shame that city became such a shithole.

Re: 38 super ?
I had a Colt 1911 in 38 Super. Really pleasant to shoot but typical Colt quality, the front sight went flying before I shot 100 rounds. I never trusted it much even though that was the only glitch. If Colt ever makes a Classic Combat Commander in 38 Super I’ll get another.

Re: walther ppk or sig 230?
The 230 is nice but try finding mags. I also believe that Sig no longer services them (not 100% on that). Walther PPK for me.

Re: classifieds
Please let me take this opportunity to pre-shit in your ad since “crapping” in ads is verboten. The classifieds here are generally pretty well managed with guys who don’t ask stupid prices for stuff. If you’re going to ask for crazy amounts you’ll have better luck on Armslist. Most here aren’t going...

Re: 20 guage for SD?
I think for home defense the 20 gauge makes the most sense. Short distances, enough power that a 12 gauge won’t matter over a 20, and possibly less recoil. If I couldn’t use an AR, I’d look real hard at an auto loading 20 gauge in youth configuration as a handy home defense gun.

Re: Thoughts on the FNX?
They seem well made but the mags are expensive and FN drops support of models on a whim. The mags ought to be interchangeable from the FNP, FNX, FNS and 509. I’m pretty sure all 4 designs use different mags though. And they are usually about $100 more than a comparable Glock, S&W or CZ.

I know they will in a Winchester 1300, I think like you said you’ll just have to try them out. I’m curious to know if they do.

I moved here from Florida 21 years ago. The list of stuff that keeps me here is way longer than the list of stuff I liked about Florida. Hope you enjoy it here.

Tried to show a pic. Turned out like crap but that is a professional job and that 1911 runs great

Re: Ramp or no ramp? 80% 1911 question
I'm not a gunsmith, but I'm fairly sure that while you might get a regular barrel to fit,...the missing area of the frame that is cut away is what would have formed the lower feed ramp area. So ammo will not feed. Yes,...you will HAVE to use a ramped barrel. Absolutely this. Ramped barrels are for ...

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
I like the Trijicon HD with the big orange front and subdued rear. Pic on my Glock 26
Also like the dot front and plain rear on my Wilson Beretta. I didn’t think I’d like that but in the future I’ll only put a night sight on the front. Really pops for me.

Re: Can't Get This Gun off My Mind!
I’d get a Dan Wesson ECO or that 4” one they’re selling and save a bunch of money. If I’m getting a 1911 I don’t want a proprietary extractor
