I largely agree with SK. Every time I hear stories of 'bullying' and 'shaming' for stuff we would have laughed off when we were kids I want to puke. I agree with h8pvmnt. I'd also add a big reason the AR trumps the AK is that one can easily assemble one from scratch or swap out parts with minimal tools and effort. An AK? Fuggetaboutit.

Ability to teach is number one in my book. Some people with amazing talent can't teach and relate to students. And some people with great resumes also suck at teaching and communicating effectively. Some people have neither, but have an awesome ability to instruct.
