Re: Private sales getting ripped on the rise?

I bought a rifle from a cop once at his police station. Pulled out my CCW card and he didn't know what I was showing him. He asked for my drivers license and took that and the CCW to his sergeant to ask what he should do. Fortunately, there was no shoot out during that sale. But I think the sergeant...

Re: Firearm Related Humor

In the jungle they sometimes hunt wild animals with bags. As the group of tourist hunters were moving into an area known for large game, the guide told his helper "Go get the Joe Biden bag". Intrigued by this, the American in the group asked "What is a 'Joe Biden bag'?" The guide...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

Most of what I have been hearing about cleaners is Simple Green pro HD. That is supposed to be okay for metal including aluminum. And it is environmentally... yada yada. I tend to think it's not a big deal to clean guns without completely disassembling them. I get removing grips which is easy enough...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

I have a couple of these off amazon - both are white plastic outer shells with stainless insides w/ baskets. They both work great for what I use them for (one for 3d resin print cleaning, and another for automotive/garage use.) I haven't used them for gun parts - but everything else I have used the...

Ultrasonic cleaner

I'm tired of cleaning parts so I am considering buying an ultrasonic cleaning unit. Are they more trouble than they are worth? Any recommendations? I see some very affordable models on Amazon but they are all imports....as usual. But even many brand names come from China. Hell, they seem to just cha...

Re: Quentin Defense Ruger 10 22 receiver

I saw those years back when Jason and Abby owned QD...Jason just never got around to producing them, the CNC machines were too busy making AR stuff. Other than it should have a hole in the back so you can push a cleaning rod from chamber to muzzle (big oversight), it looks like a nice design. I hav...

Re: Rifle sight pusher

There is a proper way to do this; nothing you have suggested previously will accomplish this task. If you insist on doing this yourself, you need a SOLID bench with a STEEL bench vise. You will need to remove the barrel band, the forend, and potentially the magazine tube. Using a SOLID STEEL punch ...

Re: Gun Stock refinishing

Polyurathane is a very durable finish. It is not maybe as traditional for gun stocks as Truoil but, in my experience, polyurathane holds up better. For 6 or 7 years, I had a business making pistol grips from mostly exotic wood and the majority of them I finished with polyurathane. It is available in...

Re: Rifle sight pusher

Boils down to "Get a bigger hammer".
I've run into some sights that you'd think were welded. You have to be especially careful with the placement of the punch and give it hell. Those sight pushers have their limits, unlike a big hammer!
