There are no true civilians in Israel. Everyone has to do mandatory military service. You basically are in the reserves until your reach retirement age. Everyone in the reserve drills twice a year.

While I respect law enforcement for the job they do, it's not easy. Not the same as signing the blank check you sign when you join the military.
