Re: Browning Hi Power with S&W Sights
I'll keep an eye out. The sights are distinctive and definitely date the pistol. I'm on the search for a specific CZ 75 Pre-B I sold on these forums back in 2013. Need to unpack the computer that has pictures of it to get the serial number. It was my first competition gun and I hope to buy it back. ...

Re: Supreme court rules warrantless home gun confiscation is unconstitutional
It is beautiful. I'm really surprised it was a 9-0 decision. Don't let your prejudice get in the way of learning what actually happened. You should read the argument transcripts. Kavanaugh is the guy who seemed most deferential to officers wanting to use "community care taking" exceptions...

Re: Tikka bolt guns
I've not shot one, but owners seem to love them across all the forums I frequent.
Their .22 is in the same size action too, so you can put it in whatever chassis/stock you wish.

Re: Last Shopping Trip To Prep Before Recession SHTF Hits in 60 days— What To Buy With Only One Chance Left?
I was living in OK in the mid 1980's when they were hit with -10F temps. It actually froze the natural gas lines and everyone in town lost gas pressure, but the power stayed on. Most there (at that time) used natural gas as their only heating source. As in Texas, a few tried unwise heating alternat...

Re: Last Shopping Trip To Prep Before Recession SHTF Hits in 60 days— What To Buy With Only One Chance Left?
For myself, 2020 provided quite an education in prepping. I was also surprised to see bare grocery shelves in April 2020. What was gone was interesting too: many of the frozen meals, canned soups, and almost no pasta or pasta sauce on the shelves. But dried foods were as plentiful as always. After ...

Re: Thoughts on AR pistols
I have some mild interest in a 300blk pistol. But I'm not really interested in 300blk to begin with. I don't like loud concussive guns so my only AR pistol is a 9mm with a 8" barrel. I put the SOB brace on it because it was a comfortable length. To be honest, I don't see great advantages to the...

Re: What's your go-to medium game hunting cartridge?
Since you mentioned hand loading I'd want to toss the 358 Winchester into consideration. It's happy inside 300 yards, can use pistol bullets for coyote, and heavy 220-250gr for elk. I put one together because I wanted a lower velocity bullet that would bruise less meat while still making it through ...

Re: 40 S&W
I have two 1911's in .40 and am building a third. I have not yet set up a press to reload it because of an upcoming move, but I expect to use 4.4gr of Universal behind a 180gr coated bullet. I've shot a buddy's 200gr load which is very gentle and might move to that bullet weight after getting throug...

Re: Bushnell 10x monocular
That looks like a great little eye piece. Thanks for bringing it up.
I currently use 8x binoculars, but something a little more compact would be nice to have along too. I've only seen spotting scopes with an L shaped reticle before, and I think I'd prefer that too.

Re: What's your ideal scope for bolt action rimfire?
I have a 452 with the Vortex 2-7x32. It's SFP with a BDC reticle, capped turrets, and seemed ideal for a walk about squirrel and rabbit rifle. My other favorite hunting scope is a fixed 4x like the Sightron SII 4x32, which lets in lots of light and is very light weight. You have to find the Sightron...

Re: Coming back to Arizona
I'm moving to Tucson from Texas in a couple months. Plenty of competition available here, but its pretty spread out and I slightly resent driving an hour for five or six stages after living closer to RSSC years ago. I'll be joining and ROing USPSA at the Pima Pistol Club as soon as possible. The PPC...

Re: 1st Pistol
Don't rush into your decision. Rent and shoot a variety of guns first. Small concealment focused pistols are harder to shoot well. They also are often less pleasant to shoot than a full sized gun too. Shooting a lot is key to getting better. I wouldn't go smaller than the G19 for a first pistol as t...

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
I live where one step outside, is flat out dark at night. Just the stars if not overcast. Zero light pollution. That means no light at all or barely even with a full moon out. You are not going to see anything at all. So how do you even see or identify a potential target? If you can't see anything ...

I'm moving back to AZ this summer and created an account here to try and find a pistol I sold on the old site back in August of 2013. Hope to buy it back if possible.

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
Well, I am not sure if I should ask a question in this thread, but, a few have mentioned darkened rear sights. I do not understand the purpose of darkened rear sights, especially in low light conditions. Can someone explain it to the confused? I'm looking at the front sight and don't want all that ...
