Re: What are some good survival books?

Some good suggestions here.
Steven Rinella's Wilderness Skills and Survival is a pretty good read.

Re: Easy friction fire

Have you shown them the 9 volt battery and steel wool method?
Or mountain man style with flint, steel and a piece of char cloth?
Magnifying glass is my kids' favorite.

Re: Electronic Safe Keypads & EMP event

Are they tested against real EMPs, or is it theoretical (a.k.a. marketing (a.k.a. snake oil))?

Re: Big Dot sights?

I have XS big dot on 1 pistol, because it was the only night sight option for that model at the time. Wouldn't buy again. I much prefer the Ameriglo i-dot. White or lumigreen, don't bother with orange.

Re: US 60, east to Safford?

For a day trip, you could try taking the 60 east to Superior then 177 south to Winkelman, then 77 north to Globe, then 60 West back to Phoenix. Will take you past the copper mines at Ray, Miami, Pinto Valley and Oak Flat, and the mill/smelter in Hayden.

Re: I'm not a Glock fanboy, but...

I'm not a fan boy. I purposefully avoided them for many years. I think mostly because of all the fanboyness. Really turned me off. I would shoot my buddies Glocks, but never saw anything special in them. Then in my endeavor to simplify and consolidate, one day the light bulb flashed in my mind. The ...

I don't get how he managed not to shoot himself. Then to play it off like it was the door slamming... He even takes a deep breath then says "smells like something's burning" WTH? Must've be really hungry haha 🤣 What caliber you all guessing? I'd say has to be 22lr judging from the recoil a...

My hunting pack just so happens to be multicam. For AZ, I like Kryptek Highlander too. FWIW

Re: mechanical combo lock just decided not to open

Hope they make it right for you. FWIW Years back I got a used safe that needed a new lock. Did lots of research, and ultimately opted for a keyed lock. I love it. https://mbausa.com/4-wheel-keyed-safe-lock-pair-of-3-keys-2-piece-escutcheon/ Always wondered why you never see this as an option on a ne...

Re: AZ heat, mirage, what works?

Agreed, depending on the materials of construction, the more your try and insulate to hold the heat in the can you may see increased erosion. Curious as to what sighting system/optic you were using.
