Re: Having to sift through a dead man's gun stuff
This post hits home as I've been putting off the inevitable task of listing out my guns, gun gear, ammo and reloading components for a long time now. It would be a major job for my wife or family to have to sift through it all plus there's also all the guitars, tools and car/truck stuff to get rid o...

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse
Yeah, I'd have to agree. I don't have much interest in new production guns anymore but back when I bought new stuff I bought some guns from them. They did seem to have better prices than the other big box stores back then. Of course, these days I only buy older, out of production guns so it doesn't ...

Re: WARNING: Polish .308 ammo advertized as "non-corrosive" is in fact corrosive
Back in the day, when surplus ammo was plentiful, a bunch of the surplus ammo for AK's was corrosive. One quick thing a lot of AK shooters did immediately after shooting was to fire just a few more rounds of known good non-corrosive ammo through the rifle after shooting the corrosive stuff. That hel...

Re: Jerry Miculek's latest record
That's so amazing--especially considering his age. I think that's incredible that he's still pushing out the records. I'm only a couple of years older than he is and I've got shoulder pain when shooting and that's aside from the fact I've always been twenty times slower than he is even when I was yo...

Re: 357 Ruger Bisley
Nice breakdown of your work in doing a Bisley conversion! I've wanted to do this to a 4 5/8" 45 Colt Blackhawk that I have for a long time now. I had been looking for the Ruger Bisley grip frames and the other necessary parts on Midway, Brownells, Gunbroker, etc but its really difficult to find...

Re: Best place to shop for used S&W in Phoenix area
I really appreciate old pre-lock Smiths and despite cutting back these days I'm always looking for them. However, I'm amazed at how much the older Smith revolvers (and older Colts and Rugers for that matter) have largely disappeared from dealer's shelves. Having said that, I've found Arizona Firearm...

Re: RIP Jim Scoutten
Oh yeah, I remember the videos he did on both guns and his automotive stuff as well. This was back in the nineties when we first got a satellite dish. RIP Jim.

Re: What are some good survival books?
For desert survival books the old "Basic Essentials of Desert Survival" by David Ganci is very good. Its kind of dated and likely out of print since its from the nineties but worthwhile.

Re: J. Michael Plaxco-one of the great shooters and teachers-RIP
I didn't know about his passing. He was quite good as a teacher as he really had the knack of explaining things such as trigger control, grip and stance in such a way that would help. His book on shooting was "Shooting From Within" and is worthwhile even though its a bit dated by now.

Wow. Just wow. That thing looks like it was forged in the ugly press.
Regardless of the price, that is one very hideous looking revolver.

Re: PSA dagger
They seem to be decent guns from the reviews on the internet. However, I've never had any actual experience with one other than a neighbor here where I live here in my 55 plus community. Unfortunately, he moved before he had a lot of rounds through his. I personally would rather have my Glocks than ...

Re: Caliber Consolidation and Purging Guns
I used to have GAS, Guitar Acquisition Syndrome, now I have GAS, Gun Acquisition Syndrome. It's a sickness and probably symptomatic of some deeper psychological thing. But, f*** it. As long as I can afford it... Yeah, I've done this with my guitar collection as well. Also, with my tools, car collec...
