Re: Getsum's Westside Shoot

There were no BLM Assistants. I just organized a get together and after the shoot I invited them to my house for a BBQ with a Buy/Sell/Trade session. Was a great time!!! And we left the desert cleaner than we found it.

Ahlman's Inc.

A neighbor has an old Savage model 170 .30-30 pump rifle that his father gave him but he couldn't get the pump to cycle. Brings it over to me and I see that the cartridge stop screw is missing. He proceeds to ask if I could fix it of course. First stop, Numrich. Exploded view of the diagram is accur...

Re: Wish I would have known...UPDATED AND FIXED!!

I've been reloading for over 40yrs but this was a new experience for me and with the help of a friend the solution has been found. From now on I will only use JP case gauges...what fit fine in the Lyman did not fit in the JP. We took the loaded rounds apart. Resized the case in the SB die, dropped i...

Re: Wish I would have known...

Nope...bolt won't fully close and I have to beat the stock on the floor to eject the round. But I have a plan from here.

Re: Wish I would have known...

Update: Just got a case gauge today and tested a reload, matter of fact I tested several and they all passed, image 1. Then I conducted a Plunk Test...all failed miserably much like cjr had stated...image 2. The rifle barrel is a 5.56mm chamber. Next step is to yank the projo, resize brass in SB die...

Re: Wish I would have known...

I'd agree with remow and flash. You didn't screw in the die enough. I just moved the Full Length die over to the Turret press and screwed it down until it was slightly tilting the head on the press. No change in case size so that was not the issue. But I did just order a Lyman Multi Caliber Small R...

Re: Wish I would have known...

This has certainly been a head scratcher. Guess I'll get a case guage and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Wish I would have known...

Just took the caliper to recheck a few sample rounds. I can meet or be slightly under the specs in the diagram. Colt LE6920 or Springfield Operator with the Wylde chamber have issues. Cheap ass PSA carbine assembled by myself with spare parts...no issues.

Re: Wish I would have known...

RCBS. Here's a clip from their website: The Small Base Die set is intended for use for ammunition to be used in auto, semi-auto, and lever action rifles so that the loaded round chambers and extracts easily. The Small Base Sizer Die sizes the case from the shoulder to the head of the case a couple o...

Re: Wish I would have known...

Sizing die cranked all the way down to shell plate and backed off a quarter turn. I agree that I should have conducted more due diligence prior to proceeding with the quantity I reloaded however. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2015/05/intro-to-full-length-dies-neck-sizing-dies-and-small-base-di...
