Re: Ruger M77 opinions

Short of the long is get with someone who will work with you and help you, may have a bad rifle but I'm guessing more of bad advice. It was a great rifle until the break was installed, went from just under 1 MOA to almost 3 MOA. Still have it sitting in the safe but I think I will pull it out this ...

Re: Retumbo

I have a "notify me when in stock" on a couple of websites but no luck. I was told that they might have it back in stock this summer.

Re: Glock G29

I wish Glock made a G19 version of the 10mm, G20 is a bit big and the G29 is a bit small....Could a guy build one?

Re: C2 Tactical in Tempe

I have been in there several times and like the people and selection. I did have a bad experience on one visit due to a young salesman that thought it was a good idea to tell me how stupid I was for asking for a specific product, one of the other salesmen came over about the time I was getting pisse...

Re: New Mexico Governor to Sheriffs: Enforce Gun Law or Resign

I wonder how long the "temporary seizure of weapons" lasts, would it take years for someone who had their weapons taken to get them back after they proved that their ex wife was just trying to get even with them by turning in a "sworn affidavit". This is why due process and "...

Re: Ruger M77 opinions

Ok, so I just did a bunch of research on muzzle velocity changes per inch of barrel length, Lyman published some info on the .270 and it looks like I would be losing about 35 fps per inch of barrel. Starting with the 22 inch barrel at about 3050 fps currently if I cut it down to 19 inches I would lo...

Re: Ruger M77 opinions

Different torque specs on the action screws can/will drastically affect accuracy. My Bergara B14 HMR is factory spec'd at 55 in/lb. After playing around with load development, I tried different torque settings on the screws. After some experimenting with the torque settings, I found 45 in/lb in the...

curt1950 wrote: May 9th, 2020, 8:56 pm As an afterthought, have you checked that the gunsmith didn't flatten the barrel slightly, sounds dum but he did have to put it into a vise of some type to work on it.
I will pull it out of the stock and take a look, hadn't thought of that

What about having the barrel cut down shorter? Like I said before, it might make a cool light weight brush gun

Re: Ruger M77 opinions

Have you tried using different ammo? Might be a bad combo with the break. Can you unscrew the break to inspect the new crown and see how it shoots with it off? I tried 3 different types of ammo, all with the same result. The gunsmith said he tried the gun with and without the break and it shot the ...

Re: Ruger M77 opinions

How large is this muzzle brake? It could be effecting the harmonics of the barrel, which is making it shoot poorly. The gunsmith could have done a bad crown. The threads could not be concentric, and the bullet could be striking the brake as it passes through. Your scope could be broken, mounts coul...

Ruger M77 opinions

I have an original M77 light weight with tang safety in .270, it is the higher grade with nice wood and the nicer blueing, I took it to a gunsmith in September to have a muzzle brake installed (wifes gun and wanted to cut recoil for her). Before I took it in the gun consistantly shot slightly under ...
