Re: Having to sift through a dead man's gun stuff
Another word of caution is to regularly update the spreadsheet. I have an old one with guns and list what I paid for them. I got some smoking deals over the years, so that isn't what I want my wife to sell them for. A decent to bad deal from 5-10 years ago, is not even close to current value. I have...

Re: Having to sift through a dead man's gun stuff
As warning to everyone, I bought a Winchester 94 .30-30 and 1200 shotgun for $150 (for both) years ago. At the time, the shotgun was worth $200 and the 94 worth $350-400. It was at a garage sale where they were selling their dad's stuff to clear things out. I also bought plastic models for $1 each. ...

Re: Having to sift through a dead man's gun stuff
My mom's brother assigned me the task of determining values of his gun stuff when he dies. Both his sons like guns, but don't love them like I do. I'm close with them, so I will definitely be helping them out. I also expect the possibility that they may not want my help as part of the grieving proce...

My man! That is awesome. I got to touch a M-60 when I was a kid when the Navy base by my house had an open base day. All the aircraft and guns were on display. I have loved them since.

Re: NICS appeal timeline
Yes, I keep my CCW currently for FFL transfers. It makes them a breeze. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a gun shop and there is a line of guys waiting on the NICS approval. I get bumped to the front of the line as I am not waiting on anything. It's worth it just for that alone.

Re: Will an "Upgrade" Hurt Value?
You can find $500 SKS that have a non-original parts (plastic stock, plastic detachable magazine, etc.). I've seen Yugo SKS with the grenade launcher removed and 'fixed' gas blocks for close to that price. It's much harder to find all original, matching number SKS's for less than $750. And those a r...

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse
Part of the problem is us. We want online pricing at a retail space that has everything in stock with the best service. It isn't going to happen, we can only get 2 out of those 4 things. We got to pick, cheap and in stock=mediocre service. Good service and cheap prices=very little in stock. Good ser...

Re: Kahr enters the competition
Kahr let the market pass them by and now nobody looks at the Kahr pistols. They were the dominant micro 9mm/.40/.45 for a decade easily. If you wanted a true micro 9mm, the PM-9 was it. Then, companies started chipping away at it. Now everyone has a double stack micro 9mm and Kahr still hasn't relea...

Re: Liberty safe - access code to fbi.
The FBI was getting in no matter what. Even if they had to cut it open. So while I don't like the idea, you can't bust Liberty's balls over something that was going to happen anyway. They are damned of if they do, or damned if they don't. Imagine if the FBI was investigating Antifa and Liberty didn'...

Re: Now that Wally World doesn't sell ammunition anymore
I buy things online anymore. Particularly ammo, it is easy to have it dropped at the front door. You can see what is in stock. Online shop usually have a bigger range of items as well. So I can get 9mm FMJ for target shooting and some JHP in other calibers at the same time. I have sworn off Walmart ...

Re: Gaston Glock passed away today
Gaston Glock got the full ride, he died old and rich. If he has any regrets, that's on him. He had the money and time to fix or change anything we wanted. His name will live on because of his invention. Glock as a company will either get very innovative and try new things to increase profits. Or the...

Re: 6.5 grendel
The nice thing about the 6.5 Grendel is it works in the AR15 platform. So you can build light and small rifles/pistols if you want. When you go to 6.5 Creedmore, you are on the AR10 platform. Unless on a Ruger SFAR (not offered in 6.5 Creedmore yet) or POF Rouge, you are in a heavier platform. Not a...

Re: "Banana Republic" vest
It was a photographer's vest. I believe protection details wore them to look like the press and carry bigger stuff with them (UZI, HK MP5K). It trickled down and people thought if the protection detail wear these, they must be the hot ticket item. But yes, they were the hot ticket item in the 1980's...

Re: BPS Turkish ammo - bad experience report
Maybe it was a bad batch of primers on their part. But either way, it won't take much to damage the brand. I know I'll avoid it as well as other Turkish brands until I hear over wise. It would be incredible foolish to sour the brand by lack of QC. It'll die pretty quickly unless it is literally 50% ...

Re: Night Vision question
There are US military optics from the 1960's that still work. Night vision is incredibly durable, after all, they hand them to 18 year olds and say go get 'em tiger. They get dropped, left on during the day, get blown up, etc. The D-300 is a commercial housing with anything from a US gen 3 tube to a...
