Re: .308 vs .310
Thanks SMG, never heard about the origin of the Chinese 1919's in 54R coming from Russia - just talked with Troy about the mechanics of the 54R conversions and heard from him about the Chinese failure to get them to work properly. If you happen to find anything I can share with the 1919A4.com forum,...

Re: .308 vs .310
Historic fact from the WW2 Lend/Lease program with Russia;...we sent thousands of 1919A4 belt-feds to Russia chambered in 7.62x54R. But somebody didn't get the memo that their .30 caliber was different than ours. Thus, the bores on all the barrels were .308! When the 1919A4s arrived, the Russians e...

Re: Proposed new ATF regulation on your reporting to local fire dept of ANY gun powder or primers
Smokeless propellants are not explosives. Period. Nicr try grasshopper: Quote ATF: "smokeless powder is the explosives material most often used in pipe bombs and other explosive improvised devices" https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/all-ffls-july2004-open-letter-attachment-atf-requests-ass...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner
Been using Master STAGES™ CLEAN 2020 for Ultra Sound (US) cleaning heavy firearm parts fouling. 1/3 cup concentrate into my Ultrasound (US) cleaner running at 60C - 1 hour for heavily fouled parts. So nice to clean a bunch of parts all at once if using different parts for caliber conversions - I sho...

Re: Reloading room upgrades
Nice post. I'd love to have a roll sizer like that. Bought a Magma Engineering Case-Master push through unit a few years back for 9mm bulged brass from my Sterling SMG (open bolt gun) that works alright - but already had a custom Dillon push through die fail after less than 8k rounds - that beast is...

Re: Proposed new ATF regulation on your reporting to local fire dept of ANY gun powder or primers
Going to a military high school & military college, serving as an NBC officer, and working for over 30 years (just retired last month!!!) within the evolving regulatory landscape needed to license high dollar research with hazmat (i.e. "green explosives", explosive detectors, fire code...

Re: Proposed new ATF regulation on your reporting to local fire dept of ANY gun powder or primers
The scope of 27 CFR 555 is strictly for those required to obtain a license for Explosive Materials via ATF. At this time, and with this amendment, that does not include us ammunition reloaders - even us high volume reloaders for NFA weaponry. The information you cite above clearly states this in it'...

I'd hope that they are just shifting their emphasis onto an elite drone unit.

Re: Constitutional Convention - Democrats want one
All of Sagan's books are a good read. His postulation that rigorously reviewed, evidence based theory would simply fall to thought terminating clichés and bumper sticker logic of authoritarian cults of personality is definitely relevant to our time. Once you buy into the gatherings, rituals, merchan...

Re: AFT proposed rule to regulate gunpowder
Funny, interstate commerce regulations call smokeless powder, black powder, and primers, explosives. I like to be in the know about anything dealing with regulations - so please let me know which interstate commerce regulation are you referring to. Are you referring to the 49 CFR (DOT-Dangerous Goo...

Re: AFT proposed rule to regulate gunpowder
You may be defending the rights for Apples when Oranges are being proposed in this rule. ATF does not consider smokeless gunpowder in any category of their "explosive materials": https://regulations.atf.gov/555-202/2019-24570#555-202 Smokeless powder is a propellant, not an explosive. Even...

Re: Question about a Gun In a Meme
Looks like one of my bee-keeping friends "snake guns". Just a sawed off .410 shotgun with fine shot. Useful when tending to bee hives off the beaten path.
