"Bare Minimum Comms Strategy"

Despite having a friend in Tempe that's into HAM, I've never really dipped into the pool of radios beyond an in-car CB about two decades ago. However, I did find this video to be interesting, perhaps some of you might too. Cool to see how tech has advanced over the years, and what sort of options ar...

Re: FAL Barrel Threading?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll be doing a bit more research on the local options, appreciate the tips. If nothing else, I suppose I could get with DSArms and see if I could ship the barrel back for them to thread, haha.

FAL Barrel Threading?

Anyone know of someplace that could handle this task? I've got a stripped Israeli FAL barrel (no gas block installed yet), looking to get the muzzle threaded 9/16x24 LH. Years ago I had an AR barrel threaded by Sun Devil in Mesa, but it looks like they've since closed up shop, otherwise I'd see if t...

Re: Stupid, stupid question about holes.

As OP mentioned, Forgotten Weapons has a video on the new poly lower. It's a long watch, but does a solid job of explaining pros and cons of the various designs: History of the Monolithic Polymer AR: From Colt to KE Arms As for the original question, I'd slap some QD cups in them (perhaps something ...

Solid points all around, especially regarding training. Haha, the exclamation wasn't so much yelling as simply emphasizing the idea. Perhaps adding a smiley may have helped? 8-) Apologies if it was interpreted as aggression, that's not my style. Was just acknowledging that 300BLK ain't cheap compare...

Re: Have braces become good enough to outweigh the hassle of transporting NFA SBR out of state?

Depends on the barrel lengths to be honest here. Less than 11.5, then 300 or 9x19 wins this game but 300 has the advantage of a tiny bit of a longer more effective range than a 9. But 11.5 and longer, hands down 223/5.56 wins the ballistics game. Costs have nothing to do with it, it's all a matter ...

Re: Have braces become good enough to outweigh the hassle of transporting NFA SBR out of state?

What kind of maintenance issues ,if any, do braces create ? Braces themselves? When it comes to the SBA3, none really. Or as YNOTAZ mentioned, no more than any other typical collapsible AR furniture. However, if further compactness for storage is the goal, and one were to get the LAW folder, the pl...

Re: Questions about NFA, now that Biden might be President

Well, regardless of what scheme they pursue, they know better than to go door-to-door trying to confiscate anything. They will simply let time do their work. Make it illegal, and eventually all the outlaws get old and die. Their kids will be raised in the gov't schools to be compliant little lemmin...

Re: EDC Flashlights?

Personally I've had very good luck with Coast lights. Carried a PX25 for several years, and currently carry a PX1 as my EDC. For anywhere from $20-$40 from Home Depot, I find them incredibly hard to beat in terms of value. The ability to focus the beam on the fly and use easy-to-find AAA (or AA depe...

Re: Need a sticky about local FFLs who do transfers.

The above links are great resources, but my line of thinking was leaning more toward a list of shops/FFL's that are vouched for by the local community (in this case, the members of this forum). A generic online list of dealers is a good start, but I'm confident we can muster up a more comprehensive ...

Agreed 100% about a sticky for local FFL's. Been in the market for a low-priced AR lower, it'd be nice to know where to shop around.

As someone that's often passed up on "deals" due to the simple fact that the firearm didn't include the factory box, I get what you mean. When it comes to plastic clamshells or nylon cases, such as what Sig or HK use, they're not getting tossed so long as I own the firearm. Cardboard boxes...

Another vote for Citizen here, especially the Eco-Drive series. Here's a different blackened stainless one, slightly more subdued appearance than the one you posted. Still no red highlights though... https://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Eco-Drive-Chronograph-Stainless-CA4184-81E/dp/B00WFVF1CY Now that I t...

Re: Semi-auto 22LR pistol

I've always liked the looks and ergos of the Sig Mosquito/GSG Firefly, especially with the threaded barrel.

Not long ago I picked up a Walther P22, it's a fun way to get some range time in without breaking the bank.
