.22 TCM is a favorite caliber of mine: It's a light cartridge, is super soft shooting, and gets well north of 2k fps out of a 1911. It's extremely easy to stay on target with follow-up shots. Maybe it's a poor man's 5.7?
In any case, it sounded like a fun idea to do an AR-pattern 8" pistol in .22 TCM: With a longer barrel I could bump velocity even higher, after all. Last year I went over to my friends at Mos-Tek and commissioned a custom build. Despite some hiccups along the way (my original plan was to have it fed on a 9mm lower with Glock mags, but we ended up switching to a standard AR lower with CMMG mags), the other day I received the finished, range-tested product.
Of course, if I'm going to spend the money to do all the research on a single AR barrel, why not just do two? The 16" barrel should be arriving soon for a rifle build.
Fun times!

Make it a comfortable resting place in your bedroom.
Introduce it to your other guns gradually, speaking in low, soothing tones.
